Its a bit short notice but Im planning on having a drive out through the Yorkshire dales on Sunday as sadly my MK1 has to come off the road now for several reasons and I want one last blast before the tax runs out.
Not sorted out any details yet but thought I would see if anyone is available to join me. Start point will most likely by Harrogate or Wetherby and heading over to Whitby for fish and chips.
My MK1 will not be dead forever as I plan on extensive surgery to bring her back but it's going to be a bittersweet day.

The drive went rather well. Did 250miles round the dales had fish and chips in Whitby which is the best fish and chips you can get. From there we did the Buttertubs route and up to England's highest pub Tan hill Inn. I only got a couple of photos as my phone died and I forgot the charger. We managed to get lost several times mainly because I had no phone or map. So here she is on one of the wrong turns we took. And that's the end of my MK1 in her current state. Bring on the rebuild.

The vision is a complete stock rebuild including chassis dip and strip. It's crawling with surface rust everywhere and some of the repairs I'm not overly happy with so they need redoing. I also want to clean it all out the chassis legs that only dipping can really get to. Once back to a steel chassis I will do all the repairs and send it back to be redipping in zinc primer and 2k epoxy. With that I'm hoping it will last another 50years. All panels will be stripped down aswell and repaired or replaced. The engine is going to get a full rebuild with new bearings seals, rings along with crank and cam polish or regrind. Might port the heads whilst I'm at it. The rear and most of the front suspension is already done a few months ago so that will just go back on at it is, except the failed rear bearings. A few shots of the rust at the back end while I did the rear suspension

Thanks. It was a lot of sandblasting and powder coating but definitely worth it. That will all go back on once the chassis is redone and it will all look that good
