Aircon - is it a mofo to try and get an old system running?

Hi mans and non existent ladies!

            As part of the sloth fleet I have a 96 gts hardtop, it has no engine atm but there's a 1mz thats destined to fill that hole.

Anyhoo - as a gts it has/had air con remnants, I'm guessing the bits that are left will pretty much be rooted - has anyone found a more common car that has aircon bit and pieces that will suit the sw? Why bother trying to find a  sw aircon rad and then paying a fortune for it it some diddly Yaris or whatevers bits fits?

Anyone recommissioned a sw aircon system with success? Does your blue car have it marts?

Short answer yes. Yes it is.
I have Aircon on my v6, although I say that in a very loose manner as it only worked for about 5 minutes before I'm guessing all the gas leaked out, it was long enough to get my hopes up but not long enough to cool me down.
I'm still running the original radiator and everything but the pump. I 'made' up some lines that connected it together but I don't know if they worked or not.


The system had a leak when I first got the car so it could still be leaking from somewhere other than my bodged lines but haven't been inclined to check just yet.
