Ok ladies,
as some of you may have seen I am the current custodian (wanker words yeah) of a rooly nice 3sfe. The cooling system contains something other than what it probably should - whats the best way to flush it?
I haven't had a good crawl around under the car but i'm suspecting that the bolts hold the plastic covers in place are too rusty to undo, so assuming as well the drainage points on the lines under the car will be the same -
So undoing the drainage points on the radiator and draining, should I pull the thermostat out so I can stick the hose down the fill point and flush it through? Obviously if I don't take the thermo out it's going to stay closed and flush 0.
Sorry if this doesn't make much sense, haven't been awake long.

You wont like this. Remove the rad, disconnect the fat pipes in the engine bay and flush them through (they sludge up) , then flush the rad through seperately (you dont want that sludge in the rad). Then disconnect the heater hoses in the engine bay, put the heater on HOT, flush those through. Remove the thermostat, reassemble, flush the engine, refit everything. If it isnt clean then, its never going to be.

Meh, guess it has to be done.
On a really exciting note, I bought a 20L drum of toyota red coolant concentrate for £30, that seems like a decent price considering halfools want £26 for 5L.
thanks for the bodgewerks advice.

Best part is- I didn't have to do it.
