Ripping good fun. Got the plenum off so I could get the rectal examination camera down the plug holes and the inlet tract. All looks ok, valve stems nice and clean, bit of liquid on the pistons but nothing to really explain the smokey start.
I think this car needs a good ragging up and down the road.
Was it puffing out blueish smoke or black/greyish, Bodgemeister?
Blue would indicate burning oil and black/grey would be fuel, if it's only on start up your conclusion could be right and it needs a drop of additive good shagging from the loud pedal. That'll clear it's sinuses.
A very productive weekend, Patrick and I managed to track down a few annoying faults on the car. We swapped out the inlet manifold and the plenum, plus we fixed a couple of air leaks and replaced an injector seal.
